Soft Washing is a low pressure cleaning process that is often used to safely remove and treat organic matter, mildew, bacteria, algae, fungus, moss and lichens in addition to dirt and grime. This application is achieved by connecting a low pressure ( 12 volts ) pump to a large tank where a mixture of Sodium Hypochlorite, water, fungicide and a detergent are carefully mixed to apply it mostly for the cleaning of Roofs and the exterior walls of buildings and homes.
Soft Washing is quite different than Pressure Washing as it targets to kill the source of the problem rather than just removing it. The equipment used for soft washing applies the solution at 50-80 PSI as opposed to Pressure washing which applies water for cleaning at 3 to 4,000 PSI and which can cause significant damage to shingles and paint as well as other building materials.
CleanZilla strictly adheres to the proven techniques that professionals in this field have used for over 30 years. We also follow the recommendations of ARMA, The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association which discourages the use of pressure washer, a flat surface cleaner or any other mechanical device to clean the roofs. ARMA recommends the use of a mixture of water Sodium Hypochlorite and a fungicide or surfactant applied with a low pressure sprayer.
What Is Causing those Black Stains on my Roof?
The name of that villain is GLOESOCAPSA MAGMA. This is a type of bacteria.
This Cyanobacteria is responsible for creating black stains and streaks on roofs, especially on the North and West sides of the roofs where less light and sun reaches them. This bacteria accumulates and grows over time as it feeds on moisture and calcium carbonate which is found in shingles.
